As the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II unfurls around the world, people are growing more anxious about the future of the British Monarchy.
The 70 years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth comes to an end as she passes away in Balmoral Castle, a royal estate in Scotland, on September 8, 2022, making her reign, the longest in the history of the British Monarchy.
Queen Elizabeth succeeded the throne when she was merely 25 years of age, in 1952 after the death of her father and the late former king George VI. Since then she has been the Queen of Britain and the head of state of 14 commonwealth countries including New Zealand and Australia
The Mother of the country, Queen Elizabeth has been people’s favorite since she sat on the throne, therefore making it harder for the civilians to adjust to the change that her death will bring to the country and all the related nations.
The Future Of The Monarchy:
The question of the Future of Monarchy makes its way through the country as instant changes are being made in the nation.
The reign of the Queen has been 7 decades long, which signifies the fact that she has lived throughout all the substantial changes in culture, society, and technology over the years, yet she ideally managed to keep an equilibrium between the continuation of the values and moral and adaptations of new revolutions
The New King :
British rule is now being passed onto the apparent heir, the oldest son of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles though now known as King Charles III. The king proclaimed the throne and the new title originally on September 9th, where he pledged to be a responsible king and the Defender of the faith. The wife of king Charles III, Camilla, was also entitled to the Queen Consort
Even though Prince Charles has been the longest in waiting heir, and has been carrying the burden of the responsibilities since the day he was born, yet still people remain skeptical of his new role as the king.
Prince Charles has been no stranger to public scrutiny, the earlier rumors of his affair with Camilla also resulted in hate being thrown at him, especially after the fallout of his marriage with the late Princess Diana. Diana, the people’s princess was adored by the entire nation and her death brought even greater criticism.
Now as the king, he has an even greater job of gaining people’s support and approval
Prince Charles has always been open to sharing his own opinion on politics and other matters throughout the years, but now as a king, it won’t be very wise for him to meddle with political affairs as that could damage his reputation as a king.
With him being the king now, all the bank notes, coins, and stamps will be changing to bear his face on them.
The New Titles Of The British Monarchy:
As the monarchy changes, so do the other royal titles.
The now oldest son of the king, Prince Williams’s title will be changing from the Duke of Cambridge to the Prince of Wales, and his wife will become the Princess of Wales, the title which last was held by his late mother, Princess Diana.
Prince William will now be the apparent heir in waiting for the throne.
The seismic shift caused by the death of the Queen in the monarchy will take some time to adjust. Entire Britain and the world now wait for what the future of the monarchy holds for them.
