The life Of The Ukrainian Citizen cannot be understood until that person or country is at war. The happy and smiling expressions of the Ukrainian citizens have now been abruptly changed into tear-drenched and terror-stricken faces since the Russian invasion.
“we just want our life back”
citizens of Ukraine
Throughout the history of wars, innocent citizens are the ones who have paid the highest price. Their only crime, that subjected them to torture and death, was that they existed.
Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, Ukraine has been an independent country, though the Russian political control and interest in the country persisted which today now results in the full-scale military invasion in Ukraine. The country has been at war since February 24th, 2022, and this has resulted in the deaths of more than 14,000 people around the region and on the front lines. The death count seems to be continuously increasing as the war gets more and more intense as the day progresses.

The Current Life Of The Ukrainian Citizen
Life Of The Ukrainian Citizen can best be described as catastrophic and devastating. The constant bombing and shelling of the major cities of Ukraine have led almost 8 million people to flee the country and find refuge elsewhere. Hearts filled with sheer fear for their families and children, people have started to quit their jobs to find shelter and safety.
Effect On Economy
This has immensely affected the economic situation of the country, like the offices, supermarkets, and businesses remain closed. The economy of the country hangs in balance as the prices rise above what people can afford. Unemployment and inflation increase at a rapid rate and banks and ATMs become vacant with cash.
Food Shortage and Foreign aid
The country is currently facing food and energy shortages. The western countries and the European Union has been sending foreign aid but have no interest in sending their troops to Ukraine to fight alongside them, as yet have been shown them. People living amidst destroyed homes and buildings in small towns and villages near Eastern Ukraine are the most venerable as they are subjected to constant explosions and air strikes.

The children of the country are the most at risk in this time of distress. Most schools remain closed and the rest are deserted as parents are afraid to send their children to school for fear that they might not see them again. Children and teenagers are under immense psychological trauma, afraid to go out to places where they once felt safe. Parents fear that their children might not get a normal future anymore.
Despite all the chaos and destruction that the war has brought, there remain some hopeful patriots who are not willing to give up on their country. Hundreds of citizens wake up each day with hope in their hearts and volunteer and help whenever they can.
The Ukrainian citizens stand strong and resist the unprovoked Russian attack, trying their best to keep themselves alive. The current situation of the country is nothing but devastating. All that the people want now is peace in the country.
