Naomi Campbell and the late, great Azzedine Alaïa were incredibly close. Often referring to the legendary designer as “papa”, the model walked every major runway spectacle Alaïa hosted, and she wore his iconic pieces at milestone public appearances. This week, Naomi – who recently received an honorary doctorate from UCA Epsom – showed she still waves the flag for the Parisian maison under its new creative direction from Pieter Mulier.
Arriving at dinner in London, the 52-year-old model looked absolutely radiant in a couture take on the Canadian tuxedo. A blue denim jacket with a matching midi-skirt, a black figure-hugging tank top and a pair of black leather cut-out sandals, all of which were by Alaïa, completed the look. Naomi accessorised with a dark purple Hermès Kelly bag and oversized black shades.
Whoever said double denim isn’t be chic obviously hasn’t seen this particular set designed by Mulier for Alaïa. Throw on some statement accessories, like Naomi, and turn a divisive double denim look into something dinner party-appropriate.
