David Beckham Honours The Queen lying-in-state, as he joins a 13-hour-long queue of mourners.
The Famed Football star, David Beckham joined the long queue of mourners at 2 am, in hopes of bidding the final farewell to the Late Queen Elizabeth II, as her Her Majesties Coffin lays on a raised platform in the Westminster Hall, for locals to come by and pay their respects.
The 47 years old, former football captain, despite being a high-ranking celebrity in the world, waited in the queue with the locals for almost 13 hours starting from 2 am till 3 pm in the evening, the football icon said to some of the reporters that,
” I thought by coming at 2 am, it was going to be quieter, but i was wrong”David Beckham said to the reporters
David Beckham further explained that his grandparents had great respect for the Royals, therefore coming here was a way to honor his family, saying
” I grew up in a household of Royalist and I `was brought up that way ”David Beckham
” If my grandparents would have been here today, I know they would have wanted me to be here”
Earlier this week, the former captain of Manchester United, took to Instagram to express his grief and pay his tribute to Her Majesty, after the news of the queen’s death made its way around the world, in an Instagram post he stated
” Im truly saddened by the death of her Majesty”David Bechkam wrote in the instagram post
David Beckham was awarded OBE Honor, by the Late Queen Elizabeth II, for his services in football in June 2003, in the queen’s birthday honor list.
” To step up, to get my honor, but to also than meet Her Majesty, to ask questions, to talk, I was so lucky that I was able to have those few moments in my life”said David Beckham after receiving his OBE
David Beckham and The Long Queues for the Queen lying in state
A long queue of people in London piled up to see and pay their respects to the queen lying in state in Westminster hall.
As soon as the locals recognized that David Beckham was waiting with them in the queue, they started to take pictures with him and momentarily caused the people in the line to come to a halt. individuals came to the internet to appreciate David Beckham for refusing to cut the queue and for waiting in the hours-long line just like every other local did.
Thousands of people joined in making the queue 5 Miles long starting from Southwark park to Westminster Hall. The extended too long queue caused the British Government to force people to stop joining in.
The now King Charles III and the Prince Of Wales made a surprise visit to the crowd in the queue. They shook hands and stopped to chat with a few people, asking them ” whether or not they were too cold” as they have been standing and waiting overnight.
Some locals were waiting in line for almost 14 hours just to get a glimpse of the Queen’s Coffin, though their patience never deterred even after walking or standing for long periods of time
The sheer amount of people and their patience to stand for such long periods of time shows just how much they loved and respected their Queen.
